Live Scan Fingerprint Benefits

Most fingerprinting is done with ink and paper and sent to the FBI for processing. But, increasingly, employers are turning to live scan technology to speed up the process by sending electronic fingerprints online.

Using electronic transmission, a human resource or compliance department can typically get results from the FBI in 24-72 hours. By contrast, it can take as long as four to six weeks to get results after submitting paper-based fingerprint cards by mail.

Once the prints are sent to the FBI, the agency checks them against its database of convicted felons and "wanted" lists. The federal database is known as the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS).

The reason for the dramatic reduction of time is that the Live Scan system immediately transmits your fingerprint data directly to the channeling agency who then forwards to the FBI, instead of manually sending the ink cards through the mail so that a person can analyze your prints. If you need your fingerprints printed on a card, we can still perform that service using our ink fingerprinting.

We can also save your records on a disc for future fingerprints that may be needed without having to perform the service again. This is a great option for busy executives and out of town employees.

Some industries like insurance companies and mortgage brokers require separate cards for each state. This means people have to go and get fingerprinted over and over. This process is very time consuming and expensive so Print Scan can electronically fingerprint you and save the records to a disc.

Anytime fingerprints are required, we can load the disc into our company system and printout as many cards you need on our FBI certified fingerprint card printer. What we print out are original documents that you will sign and submit, these are not copies.
